Giants players disillusioned after…..
The New York Giants’ 3-game winning streak came to an abrupt end with a 24-6 loss to the New Orleans Saints on Sunday. The Giants’ 5-9 record means they are out of contention for a playoff berth.
Bobby Okereke, the Giants’ defensive end, spoke to the media after the team’s loss on Sunday. Okereke said that the locker room knows the consequences of this loss, and that the players are not deluded. “We know what happened, we know what happened, and we know how bad it is,” he said. “We’re disappointed.” Okereke called this week’s game a “must-win” for the Giants, who are now out of the playoff race. “We’re out of options,” Okereke added. “This game was a must-win for us.”
Duggan noted that “the playoff dream is basically dead,” bringing Big Blue back to reality.
Giants can rebuild their offense in 2024 NFL Draft.
Signing this offensive lineman in free agency should be a top priority for the Giants.
New York currently holds the 6th overall draft pick after a chaotic Week 15.
Despite losing, the 5-9 Giants technically remain two games behind the NFC’s 7th seed.
However, with three difficult games to finish the season, it appears a playoff run is out of reach. Next week, the Giants will host the division-winning Philadelphia Eagles, followed by a New Year’s Eve game against Los Angeles Rams, and then a Week 18 rematch with the Eagles.
With the Giants’ playoff hopes now all but lost, the focus will be on finishing the season strong before entering another rebuilding period in the offseason.
“We’re disappointed,” Okereke said in front of reporters outside his locker after the Giants’ loss on Sunday. “There’s no doubt about it. We know how important this game is. We know it’s a must-win game. We know we have to win this game to stay in the playoff hunt.”
“This game is a must-win, Dan Duggan wrote in The Athletic.”
