Giants Promote 3 Coaches, Add 2 New Staff Adds 2 new members to staff.In addition to Mike Kafka’s role as offensive coordinator, he has assistant head coaching duties. Secondary coach Jerome Henderson will also serve as defensive passing game coordinator, and quarterback Shea Tierney will take on the additional role of offensive passing game coordinator.The two newcomers are outfielder Charlie Bullen and defender Zak Kuhr.The moves come a day after the Giants hired defensive coordinator Shane Bowen and coach Tim Kelly, both of whom coached at Tennessee last season. At the start of the offseason, the Giants hired a new special teams coordinator (Michael Ghobrial), offensive line coach (Carmen Bricillo) and running backs coach (Joel Thomas).Bullen spent the past two seasons with the Illinois football program as the outside linebackers coach/passing coordinator. Bullen joined the Fighting Illini in January 2023 with 11 years of NFL coaching experience, including four years with the Cardinals.Bullen spent the 2020-2022 seasons as Arizona’s #039 outside linebackers coach after originally joining as an assistant coach. He also served seven years with the Miami Dolphins from 2012 to 2018, working at both linebacker and defensive line.Bullenand#039 outside linebacker helped Cardinals in 2020-21. to rank fifth in the NFL with 89 sacks. Of these, 50 came through an external sponsor. During that span, three Cardinals outside linebackers totaled more than 10 sacks: Markus Golden, Chandler Jones and Haason Reddick.Prior to his time with the Dolphins, Bullen spent three seasons (2009-2011) as the defensive backs coach at his alma mater, the University of Iowa.Kuhr (pronounced “COORandquot;) just finished his fourth season coaching in the NFL. He was hired as a quality control coach in 2020 to work with the Titansand#039; under Bowen at linebacker and became an interior defensive assistant in 2021.Prior to joining the Titans, Kuhr spent the 2019 season as an assistant at the University of Texas. He also spent time at Texas State, Rutgers, James Madison, Old Dominion, Ohio State (intern) and Edward Waters University..
