Steelers super player Returns to…..

The Pittsburgh Steelers have welcomed back safety Elijah Riley to practice ahead of their Week 16 game against the Cincinnati Bengals. After going on Injured Reserve with an ankle injury in Week 12, Riley has now returned to practice and is expected to be activated before the game.

The Steelers are in need of some help at safety after losing both of their safeties to injury this week. They have already lost Dont’a Hightower (knee) and safety Minkah Fitzpatrick (concussion). Backup Trenton Thompson has also suffered a stinger.

Kazee has been suspended for the rest of the season, while Fitzpatrick has been placed on injured reserve with a knee injury that will keep him out of Week 16.
Riley has played in 14 games with the Steelers since joining their practice squad last year. He has started every game this year.
The Steelers have 21 days to put Riley on injured reserve. If they don’t, he will be lost for the season.

Steelers’ Playoff Hopes Are Dead Yet

Riley was placed on injured reserve in Week 12 with a sprained ankle. He has since returned to practice, but remains on IR with a shot to be activated before this weekend’s game. The Steelers could benefit from the additional depth in the secondary, which has already been depleted by the loss of two starters in Kazee (knee) and Fitzpatrick (shoulder) as well as Keanu Neal (shoulder) and backup Trenton Thompson (stinger).
