Liverpool could sign Manchester United midfielder Sofyan Amrabat as a “great backup”, as Redmen TV presenter Paul Machin compares him to another star signing at Anfield this summer in an interview with GIVEMESPORT.
Reds manager Jürgen Klopp has strengthened his options in the middle of the park in the summer transfer window.
Liverpool News – Sofyan Amrabat
In a recent interview with BBC Sport, Amrabat confirmed that he only wanted to join Manchester United despite interest from bitter rivals Liverpool. The 27-year-old first caught the attention of the Moroccan Premier League giants last winter after an impressive performance at the 2022 World Cup, helping the Atlas Lions become the first African nation to reach the semi-finals. He told the BBC:

Despite a protracted transfer saga, United have finally signed Amrabat from Fiorentina on a season-long loan deal and have committed to buying for over £21m next summer. Liverpool’s £34m Amrabat option
When Amrabat put pen to paper on the Old Trafford deal, Liverpool secured their option at Anfield. Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai and Wataru Endo have already come through the famous Shankly Gates, but the Reds had another addition up their sleeve in the summer transfer window.
Liverpool have confirmed the £34.2m signing of Bayern Munich midfielder Ryan Gravenberch on deadline day after Fabinho, Jordan Henderson, Naby Keita, James Milner, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Fabio Carvalho left Merseyside during the transfer window.

The 21-year-old is looking to get more game minutes as he has been starved for first-team action since joining Bayern Munich from Ajax last summer. The Dutchman started three Bundesliga games for the German giants ahead of his move to the top flight and will have plenty of opportunities to impress Klopp in the Premier League, Europa League and Carabao Cup.
Sky Sports claim that Liverpool’s interest in Gravenberch has been long-standing and that he was shortlisted for three selections before joining Bayern in 2022. The Bavarian giants were initially reluctant to sell, with Liverpool prioritizing their failed search. Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia, who both chose Chelsea over Liverpool in the summer.
But the move was sealed on deadline day, giving Klopp several options in midfield this season. Machin has already suggested to GIVEMESPORT that Liverpool will not regret signing Gravenberch for Amrabat in the long term.
Gravenberch could become an “absolute star” – Paul Machin
The Redmi TV announcer admits that Amrabat and Gravenberch do not play the same role, but believes that the latter could have a higher ceiling and become an “absolute star”. He told GIVEMESPORT

Gravenberch  may turn out to be a better long-term choice
While Amrabat could be ready for Liverpool’s first team, Gravenberch has age on his side in the coming seasons. The Dutchman is six years younger than Amrabat and has plenty of time to develop and learn from the likes of Mac Allister and Endo as he aims to become one of Europe’s premier midfielders.
