It’s the second year in a row Clark has won the award, making her just the third repeat winner in Big Ten Conference history.

 

IOWA CITY, Iowa — Caitlin Clark ended her collegiate basketball career in April, but she’s still raking in the awards.

 

On Thursday, the former University of Iowa guard was named the 2023-2024 Big Ten Female Athlete of the Year. It’s the second year in a row Clark has won the award, making her just the third repeat winner in Big Ten Conference history.

 

In her senior year at Iowa, the West Des Moines native led the country in 10 statistical categories, averaging 31.6 points and 8.9 assists per game. Iowa ended the season with a 34-5 record, as well as a second consecutive Big Ten tournament title and another trip to the NCAA championship game.

 

Clark also made history by becoming the NCAA’s Division I all-time scoring leader, passing Pete Maravich. In addition, Clark owns the NCAA’s all-time field goals mark of 1,293.

 

Clark ended her collegiate career with 3,951 points. After leaving the Hawkeyes, Clark began her rookie year with the Indiana Fever and has already started making headlines.

 

Other Iowa stars who have won the Big Ten Female Athlete of the Year award include field hockey star Kristy Gleason in 1994 and current Las Vegas Aces player Megan Gustafson in 2019.

 

Clark was one of fourteen nominees up for the award this year. Zach Edey of Purdue University was named Big Ten Conference Male Athlete of the Year.
