Barcelona are reportedly interested in signing former Tottenham Hotspur player Juan Foyth.
Spurs are having a great season at the moment and there’s really no reason to look back at the players they’ve let go. However, Foyth’s progress since leaving Tottenham has been excellent and he could now secure a big money move to Barcelona in the near future. Juan Foyth could join Barcelona just two years after leaving Tottenham
Tottenham signed Juan Foyth from Estudiantes as a teenager in 2017.
The Argentine was considered by many to be an enormous talent at the time. He had all the attributes to succeed at the top level, but his time at Spurs was not great. Foyth only played 32 senior games there for Tottenham. After failing under Mauricio Pochettino and Jose Mourinho, he was loaned to Villareal in 2020.
The Argentine had an outstanding season at El Madrigal, winning the Europa League in his first campaign there under Unai Emery.
Emery decided to sign Foyth on a permanent deal in 2021 and Tottenham agreed to sell him for just £12.8m, making a £4.8m profit (TalkSPORT).

Now, after two brilliant seasons at Villarreal, Barcelona head coach Xavi Hernandez, who wanted to sign him in the summer, wants to get him in one of the next two transfer windows, reports ESPN.

reportedly demanded to pay his full £47m release clause in the summer. Barca now believe the Yellow Submarine will be “more resistant to offers” going forward. Foyth could have been a star for the Spurs

Foyth’s performances at Villarreal and Barcelona’s interest now suggest he is a “brilliant” defender.
Still only 25, the Argentine has been very good in Spain over the last three years and makes you wonder why he couldn’t do the same at Spurs. Perhaps the lack of opportunities in North London ruined his chances of establishing himself at Tottenham, which is a shame as he would have saved them millions.
But both sides are happy with where they are right now, and that can only be a good thing.
