Sunderland are currently fourth in the league table with 16 points from nine matches.
The Black Cats are six points behind second-placed Ipswich Town.
Leeds are ninth with 13 points from nine matches

Former Leeds United winger Jack Clarke is thriving at Sunderland
Jack Clarke was one of the goalscorers for the Black Cats. The winger first found the net in the eighth minute and then scored from a free kick in the 31st minute. Leeds lost 3-1 to Southampton on Saturday afternoon.
The 22-year-old is now the top scorer in the league with seven goals from nine matches.
Clarke has become a goal machine for Sunderland. After failing to make a huge impact at Tottenham Hotspur, the winger moved to the Stadium of Light on a permanent deal with the Black Cats in 2022 following a loan spell.
Last season, the young Englishman scored nine goals and provided 12 assists at the World Cup.
At this point, it seems very likely that Clarke will easily surpass last season’s goals this time around. Leeds sold Clarke to Tottenham for £8.5m in the summer of 2019 (Sky Sports).
Clarke was 18 at the time.
He has improved a lot recently and is now a much better and more mature player.
And he is only 22 years old.

Sunderland manager Tony Mowbray was hugely impressed with Clarke’s growth. ChronicleLive quotes Mowbray as saying of Clarke: “He’s a fantastic footballer, he’s very positive, very confident at the moment.
“To think that two and a half years ago I was Blackburn Rovers manager and Jack Clarke was playing for Tottenham U23s and I didn’t get a shot against our young side, something amazing has happened with Jack and he is now playing with confidence and belief in himself .
“Sometimes he’s unplayable, you don’t know if he’s going to go down outside or if he’s going to cut inside to bend it like he did with the first goal.”
