New York Giants head coach Brian Daboll wasted no time filling out his staff and tight end coaching roles after losing Andy Bischoff to the Los Angeles Chargers.
The team announced that Daboll has hired Tim Kelly, most recently with the Tennessee Titans, where he was their running back coordinator in 2022 and offensive coordinator in 2023, to fill the position.Prior to working with the Titans, Kelly was with the Texans, where he was hired in 2014 as the Houston Texans’ offensive quality control coach.
After two seasons, Kelly received an additional commitment with the Texansand#039; offensive line assistant coach in 2016.
In 2017 and 2018, he was selected as a coach.In 2019, Kelly was named offensive coordinator, a role he held in Houston and Tennessee. But with Houston, he was also given the added responsibility of coaching the team and quarterbacks, which he did in 2020 before his role was eliminated the following season.Kelly played college ball at Eastern Illinois, where he made 48 career starts as a defensive lineman.
He was named a team captain in 2007 and earned Academic All-Region honors from ESPN The Magazine before graduating in 2008.He began his coaching career as a graduate assistant at Illinois Wesleyan in 2008, where he worked with the defensive linemen. After two years, he went to Minnesota State-Moorhead, where he was the defensive line coach and defensive coordinator in his only season there.Kelly switched the ball to an offensive end when he jumped to the NFL in 2014 with Houston.
