Warriors star’s timetable for return revealed……
On Monday, December 18, The Athletic’s Shams Charania reported that Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Greens suspension is expected to last for at least three weeks. Green, who was suspended indefinitely last Wednesday, December 13 for striking Phoenix Suns center Yusef Alhassan in the face, is already in the process of returning to the team. Charania reported that Green, 33, is undergoing counseling and is expected to cooperate with the Warriors and the NBA while he is out. Sources close to Green and the organization say the four-time All-Star is understanding and ready to go through the necessary steps to return to full health. Charania did not disclose the details of Green’s counseling due to his privacy.
Warriors coach Steve Kerr declined to discuss specifics when asked after the team’s win over Brooklyn on December 16. “I can’t tell you that, that’s private,” Kerr said. “I can tell you that Draymond and I have each other’s full support, and Draymond is very dedicated to making the changes that he wants to make.” The Warriors will play a total of 13 games over the next three weeks. Eight of those games will be against winning teams. The Warriors’ final regular-season game will be on January 15 against the Memphis Grizzlies. Ja Morant is expected to return from a 25-game suspension to face the New Orleans Pelicans on December 19.
If Green is suspended for a minimum of 20 games, he is expected to lose an average of $154.000 per game, while a full suspension could cost him up to $203.000, per ESPN.
Kerr said Green’s latest ejection, his third of the season and the 20th of his career, should serve as a wake-up call for the fiery All-Star.
“This is someone I care about, someone I’ve known for 10 years, someone I love for their loyalty, their commitment, their passion, their love for their teammates, their friends, their family, and for the game of basketball,” Kerr said after the 121-113 defeat to the Los Angeles Clippers on December 14.
I’m trying to help him because he’s the one who picked on Rudy, smothered Rudy, took a wild swing at jusuf, punched poolele last year. He needs to change, and he knows it. He knows it. We all know it.
Curry: “The conversations we had on Wednesday were about him accepting that he can’t do what he’s been doing for a long time,” the Warriors star said after the team lost to the Clippers on Wednesday.
Green, who is in the first year of a $100 million contract extension signed last summer, declined to comment on Curry’s comments.
It means change. I guess that’s the question, isn’t it? That’s the journey we’re on right now. Curry believes Green will come back a better version of himself.
I’m here as a confidant and a partner to lean on for whatever that entails,” said Curry. “This was a discussion with us as a group to better understand where we are right now, where we’re headed, and to hold each other (and Draymond) accountable for what’s happened and what we need to do to be better as a group.”
