BREAKING NEWS: Oklahoma sooners super star found dead…

Listeners to Oklahoma Illustrated Podcast Episode 43 | Open Practice Observation + 2024 SEC Schedule.

Sooners Illustrated’s Josh Callaway discusses Tuesday’s open practice and the players’ interviews, discusses OU’s latest transfer pickup, and breaks down the SEC schedule for 2024, which was officially released Wednesday night.

Amidst Oklahoma’s hectic week, the Oklahoma Illustrated Podcast returns for the third week in a row with a brand-new episode. This week, host Josh Callaway, along with analysts Tom Green, and D.J. Jackson, break down the latest on the Sooners. They begin with their thoughts and insights from Tuesday’s open practice and the player interviews that followed.

Tawee Walker, the running back, stuck with the team through bowl season despite entering the transfer portal, Green said. “They need bodies at running back, and it looks like he and the coaching staff have a good relationship and that kind of thing,” Green said. “I think he could use this as a little bit of an audition to see if there are any other scholarship opportunities open in the portal.”

Tawee wanted to “finish what he started,” Jackson said. “He wants to finish out the season, and he wants to help out the team. To be part of this, to be around the guys, and to be part of a team that he’s probably not going to be a part of next season, that’s pretty big for him. It speaks to his character.”

The staff then touched on several other topics from practice and the player interviews this week before diving into the latest OU transfer pickup from the portal in the form of UT-Martin tailback Samuel Franklin.

Finally, the staff went over the 2024 SEC schedule, which was released on Wednesday night. “I think the most important thing is the timing of Oklahoma’s bye weeks,” Green said. “It’s a 14 week regular season, so every team in the country will have two bye weeks, and Oklahoma’s bye weeks could come at the perfect time before their two biggest games in October, right before the Texas game, and then right before the Alabama-LSU game at the end of the season.

Yes, there are some concerns, but there are also some positives on this schedule, Jackson said. “If they’re healthy and able to put it together, this could be a great fit for OU,” he said.
