Promising Oklahoma top player enters transfer portal.

Cayden Green, a true freshman offensive lineman, has checked into the transfer portal

NORMAN — The Oklahoma Sooners practiced on Tuesday afternoon to get ready for their Alamo Bowl opponent, and the biggest difference was the absence of two key players: Jeff Lebby (ankle) and Dillon Gabriel (shoulder).

As Oklahoma returned to practice after a week off for bowl practices, another major player was on the sidelines: Cayden Green, a true freshman offensive lineman who entered the transfer portal earlier in the week.

247Sports National reporter Matt Zenitz confirmed the initial On 3 report of Green’s transfer to Oklahoma.

The Sooners had the good fortune of keeping two of their key players on the defensive side of the ball for their senior season. Linebacker Danny STUTZMAN and safety BILLY BOWMAN Jr. will be back for their senior campaigns, which will shift the focus to the offensive side of the ball, where five starters from last season’s opener will be gone.

The addition of Green to the portal will only make things more difficult. He was one of Oklahoma’s most promising young players.

Green, a Fort Worth, Texas-native, grew up a fan of the Sooners and started five of their final six games as a freshman. He started Oklahoma’s second game against Tulsa, 66-17, and logged 32 of the Sooners’ 68 offensive snaps. In the Sooners’ season-opener against Texas, Green started and logged 57 of Oklahoma’s 82 offensive snaps, helping the Sooners’ offensive line to a season-best 201 rushing yards while limiting Texas to just one sack of quarterback Taylor Gabriel (Texas entered the game averaging 2.

He logged 32 of Oklahoma’s 68 offensive snaps in his first start. Since then, Green has started five of the Sooners’ final six games. In Oklahoma’s season-opener against Texas, Green logged 57 of Oklahoma’s 82 offensive snaps, helping the Sooners’ offensive line to a season-best 201 rushing yards and limiting Texas to just one sack of quarterback Taylor Gabriel (Texas had 2.8 sacks entering the game).
