WATCH: T.J. Watt responds to concussion criticism, Steelers get Alex Highsmith update.

T.J. Watt, the Pittsburgh Steelers’ defensive end, spoke publicly for the first time since sustaining a head injury in Week 14 and being placed in the NFL’s concussion protocol. Speaking to the media on December 14, Watt seemed to be sending a message to those who have argued that he shouldn’t have returned to face the New England Patriots last December 7. “We can analyze every single thing that I do,” Watt said. “I think it’s funny how things are always caught on camera when I could do things that aren’t on camera.”

Watt went on to say that “I’m not going to get into all the details and get into a discussion about it.”

Watt cleared the NFL concussion protocol the day before he spoke publicly about his concussion.

According to ESPN’s Brooke Pryor on December 14, fellow Steelers pass-rusher Alex Highsmith also cleared the league’s concussion protocol on the same day.

Watt and Highsmith both entered the protocol days after the team’s Week 14 loss to the New England Patriots, but both edge rushers will be healthy enough to face the Colts without injury designation.

The game between the Pittsburgh Steelers and Indianapolis Colts will be played on Sunday, December 16, at approximately 4:30 PM ET.

T.J. Watt, the Pittsburgh Steelers’ defensive end, spoke publicly for the first time since sustaining a head injury in Week 14 and being placed in the NFL’s concussion protocol. Through the media outlets, Watt seemed to be sending a message to those who have argued that he shouldn’t have returned.

“We can go over every detail of what I did,” Watt said. “I think it’s funny how things are caught on camera when I could have done things other times that weren’t on camera.”

“I’m not going to get into all the details and get into a discussion about it,” he added. “I’m just saying.”

Watt’s comments came after he was asked about the use of tinted visors and smelling salts following his head injury.
