SAD NEWS: Lions Looking Forward To Weather Difficulties.

Lions Looking Forward To Weather Difficulties.

It’s Week 14 in the NFL and the Detroit Lions are hosting the Chicago Bears, but there’s one more factor that could affect the game.

While the Lions have avoided playing in inclement weather all season, that could change this Sunday. The National Weather Service in Chicago is predicting rain and gusty winds for the game at Soldier Field.

With that in mind, the Lions will be practicing on the field all week. The conditions may not be ideal but Detroit is getting ready for the challenge.\

“Weather will be a factor in this game, but it’s also, I like that, it’s a great equalizer,” Dan Campbell said. “Turnovers and weather are great equalizers. It makes it a little more even, and I think that works for us. I think they think it works for them. I think it works for us. So it’s gonna be good, it’s gonna be a good game.”

Lions quarterback Jared Goff has plenty of experience playing in cold weather and isn’t worried about the potential for issues.

No matter what it is, we’ll be prepared, and I’ll be prepared, too, Goff said. “I’ve played in cold games, windy games, and all kinds of games. We’ll figure it out, and we’ll be ready.

The Lions have a dome in their home stadium, so they’re shielded from the Midwest heat and humidity. The Bears, on the other hand, have an outdoor stadium and are close to Lake Michigan, so the weather can be unpredictable at times.

Goff and the offense know the challenges ahead and don’t want them to have a negative impact on the game.

You want it to be 70 degrees and sunny every day, but it doesn’t always happen. Anything that isn’t would be a disaster, but you’re playing in it every week. “Yeah, we’ve been a lot in the dome this year,” Goff said. “But when you play in a little bit of weather, you get used to it, and I’ve had my best games in it, so yeah, let’s see.”

The Lions have faith in their veteran quarterback, too. On Wednesday, quarterback coach Mark Brunell praised Goff’s attitude and said he doesn’t expect the weather to affect the game on Sunday.

Every quarterback is unique. I used to hate windy days. I hated them. But it doesn’t bother Jared. It doesn’t even seem to bother him. For a guy who grew up in L.A., playing in California, it’s amazing that the elements just don’t bother him. It’s impressive. But then again, he’s in his eighth year, he’s been in these games and these environments, and he’s had success. He handles these things with confidence and poise. Some young quarterbacks would ask about the weather, but he hasn’t even mentioned it (on Wednesday) and he won’t, which is great.
