Issues pop up in Summerville, two MOT stars eliminated.

PRE-SEASON PREVIEW: Leeds United v Blackburn Rovers – Daniel Farke’s early team news

Leeds United manager Daniel Farke has given an update on his starting line-up ahead of Saturday’s (9 December) clash with Blackburn Rovers.

Speaking to the media ahead of the game, Farke revealed that Joe Gelhardt and Sam Byram have both passed their fitness tests and returned to training on Thursday, while Junior Firpo is expected to be out for some time with an injury.

Policeman Poveda has been away with the Colombia national team, leaving Luke Ayling as the only doubt in the squad ahead of the visit of Ewood Park.

After the last match, “we had a few knockouts and had to deal with a lot of traffic,” Farke said. “After last week, Joe Gelhardt had a few issues, and at the start of this week, we had a couple of knockouts, one to Joe, one to Sam Byram, and one to Crysania Summerville. We had to deal with the traffic.”

All three of them were involved in today’s training session, so I would expect them to be in good shape and ready to go. Of course, there is the injury of junior Firpo and the fact that Ian Paved has been recalled to the Colombia international squad.

The only real question mark is for Luke Ayling, as he has had two full days of training over the past couple of weeks, but he did report some light knee issues yesterday after training, so I would hope that he can train with the team again tomorrow and be available.

However, there will be one big absentee from the action for the hosts as they face a one-game touchline ban following their sending off at the hands of the Owls earlier in the season.

Whether or not that will have a significant impact on the game on the field remains to be seen, but it will be another big opportunity for the Whites as they bid to make a name for themselves this season.
