In a recent analysis by Gary Davenport of Bleacher Report, a compelling case was made regarding potential trades each NFL team should consider before the 2024 season kicks off. For the Detroit Lions, a team now considered one of the favorites to represent the NFC in Super Bowl LIX, the focus is on EDGE player John.
“Hutch is going to continue to improve,” Lions coach Dan Campbell said on Thursday. “Whether those come in sacks or (pressures), I already know he’s going to be better. You know what I mean? That’s just the way he is, the way he works. It’s like Saint (Amon-Ra St. Brown), I mean you’re going to be able to count on the production he’s going to bring.”
Teams are starting to pay more attention to him as a pass rusher, often sliding protection his way, doubling him on the edge, or chipping him with a back or tight end. Anything to slow down his progress towards the quarterback.
Experience definitely helps, and in my opinion, Hutchinson will take his game to a whole new level in 2024—a level where he can be in the conversation with the other elite edge rushers in football.
