NFL UPDATE “Miami Dolphins offensive line totally all that bad”.

Miami’s offensive line in 2023 is expected to be pretty much the same as it was in 2022, but Miami’s offensive line depth is a lot better than it was last year.

The offensive line has been Miami’s biggest weakness for a long time, at least in the minds of most fans and analysts. But would it surprise you to hear that the Dolphins allowed just 35 sacks in 2022? That’s tied for the ninth-fewest in the NFL with the Las Vegas Raiders.

Sure, there are a number of factors that contribute to Miami’s relatively low number of sacks allowed, including the quarterback’s ability (when healthy) to move in the pocket and evade pass rushers, as well as his quick processing and ability to throw the ball quickly. But if that’s the case again in 2023, Tagovailoa will be able to offset some of the negative effects Miami’s interior line could have on a given game. But what about the offensive line’s negative impact on the running game?

Last season Miami ranked 18th in the NFL in yards per rush, with an average of 4.3 yards per tote. The Bears, Bills, and Ravens ranked first, second, and third, respectively, thanks to their starting quarterbacks’ high yards per carry numbers.

While Miami’s 18th ranked rushing offense — based on this metric — isn’t great, it’s not as bad as some would like to believe.

If Miami’s offensive line can finally put together a solid, injury-free season under the guidance of the Dolphins’ new offensive line coach, Butch Barry, it would be a huge step forward for this Miami offense after the huge jump it took last season.

The two offensive linemen most worried about by Miami fans are Eichenberg and Jackson.
