star player for Leeds United treading carefully when given a fourth yellow card

In four games, the Whites winger can avoid receiving a second booking.

The Whites’ star player in recent weeks has been the Dutch youth international.

He played 340 minutes of Championship football in October and contributed eight goals. Out of those eight, five were goals, and he set up three more for his teammates.

In those five games, the 21-year-old had 18 shots and gave the Whites three excellent opportunities. Despite interest from several Premier League teams this summer, Daniel Farke used his magic to keep Summerville at the club, so his importance to the team cannot be understated.

But following a second yellow card in the Whites’ 1-0 victory over Leicester City, he would be suspended for one match. Georginio Rutter’s goal caused Leeds to upset the odds and end the Foxes’ remarkable winning streak.

Summerville showed promise once again against Leicester, but lacked the consistent finish that has marked his play in recent weeks. When he collided with Foxes midfielder Hamza Choudhury in the 88th minute, during a late-game confrontation between the two players, he was given a yellow card. The aggressive Leicester City player also received a booking for his part in the altercation.

As of right now, the Whites have participated in 15 Championship games. Five yellow cards carry a one-match suspension, and the maximum number of games that can be played is 19. Summerville has four more games to go before receiving a second yellow card.

The 37th game week of the Championship is the cutoff date for ten bookings and a two-match suspension.
