Mark Pope has been quite popular with Big Blue Nation in his first couple of months as the new head coach of the Kentucky basketball program.
Most recently, Pope spent some time talking with John Wall. The two former Wildcats linked on Wall’s podcast — Point Game — for part of a recent episode.
Pope and Wall discussed what makes Kentucky and Big Blue Nation so special, Pope’s expectations for his team this season and when Wall return to Kentucky’s campus.
In addition to those topics, Wall made it clear to Pope that he plans to assist Kentucky in multiple ways. Whether it’s recruiting, coming to practice and/or games or simply being an ambassador for the program — Wall said he’s just a phone call away.
Wall has no intentions of picking a “side” between Calipari and Kentucky/Pope, which is a relief to hear. Hopefully other former Wildcats will follow that example. While Calipari was life-changing for the players he brought to Kentucky, they still played for Kentucky.
