Unexpectedly: Sad but true Kentucky finally trade 4-star guard Travis Perry…..

It’s no secret that Pope has a lot of work ahead of him in building his first roster, which may not see a single returner from this past season, while most of the recruiting class is likely headed elsewhere.

Thankfully, it appears Kentucky will keep 4-star guard Travis Perry.

During his introductory press conference, Pope was asked about recruiting in-state players. That led to him giving a shoutout to Perry, who was in the crowd and got a standing ovation from a packed Rupp Arena crowd.

Pope then joked that he didn’t envision Kentucky losing Perry.

There’s a good chance Travis is not going to jump into the portal, guys,” Pope exclaimed to the crowd.

Pope also confirmed he’s talking with all of Kentucky’s current players and 2024 recruits.

This past season, Perry finished his senior campaign averaging 29.5 points per game while shooting 50.5% from the floor, 42% from 3-point range, and 85.3% from the free-throw line, leading Lyon County to the program’s first Sweet 16 Championship.

In the championship game, Perry poured in 27 points on 10/18 shooting (5/9 3-pointers) while adding five assists and was named Game MVP.
