Report: Real Madrid has extended an offer to the player Leeds United sold.

Real Madrid has offered former Leeds United midfielder Kalvin Phillips a way out of Manchester City.

That’s according to Central Defense, who say that Real Madrid has made an offer to sign Phillips through middlemen, and both City and Phillips are considering January destinations.

As the transfer window reopens in January, Phillips is almost certain to depart from the treble winners because he has struggled to get regular minutes since moving from Leeds.

The 27-year-old was told he could leave in the summer, but he chose to stay and fight for his position—a move that has now come back to haunt him.

This season, Phillips has yet to start a Premier League game, even though Rodri has missed two due to suspension. During the entire previous term, he only made two starts, both of which came after City had already won the title.

Phillips is given the opportunity to join Real Madrid
In order to solidify his position at the center of Gareth Southgate’s midfield in time for Germany to host the European Championships the following summer, Phillips is in desperate need of consistent playing time this season.

Despite getting little playing time at the club level, Phillips has remained a fairly consistent figure for England; however, he is aware that this needs to change.

According to the report, City wants to get around £50 million for Phillips, which would be a profit on the £42 million they paid Leed to acquire him.

Although Real Madrid has been given the opportunity to sign him, it is rumored that they will not be spending even close to the stated asking price.

Since Madrid’s midfield rivalry is arguably even more intense than City’s, Phillips may actually benefit from this.

In Carlo Ancelotti’s engine room, Jude Bellingham, Luka Modric, Toni Kroos, Eduardo Camavinga, Aurelien Tchouameni, and Federico Valverde are all possibilities.
