Several Leeds United players will have their contracts expire next summer, and some of them may not be eligible for extensions.

Since taking over as Leeds’ manager following their relegation from the Premier League, Daniel Farke has made significant changes at Elland Road.

It was a much-needed switch from the players who failed in the Premier League, but some have stayed in order to battle for promotion once again in the Championship.

After the transfer window shut, there are some players that still have their long-term futures in doubt as they entered the final year of their contracts.

Here, we look at two players that we think are in the final year of their time at Elland Road…

Hpenned a one-year extension midway through last season, it did seem that the club were gearing up for Ayling to see his time at Leeds come to an end in 2024.

He has been talismanic at Elland Road, and one of the true icons of the team that clinched promotion in 19/20, so he’ll always be remembered fondly.

However, the early stages of this season have proved that he’s not the player he once was, marauding up and down the touchline for 90 minutes on end, and looking like a core part of a very solid defence under Marcelo Bielsa in the EFL.

Now, it seems the opposite is the case, and it’s perhaps the best time to part ways at the end of this season.

Mr Versatile was another icon of the club’s from that time under Marcelo Bielsa, and Dallas was able to somehow continue improving in the Premier League.

No matter where he played, he put in 8/10 performances and was one of the best players in the side in the back end of that ninth-placed run.

A horrific leg break to his femur in April 2022 has shattered his chances of being a key player for Leeds again, yet to kick a ball for the club since, and looking no closer to being back.

Footage does keep cropping up of the Northern Irishman present with the group at Thorp Arch, indicating he’s working hard to get back to top speed, but such an injury means he cannot be rushed.

Like Adam Forshaw in previous years, perhaps the club keep him on with the view to helping him rehabilitate, given what he’s done for the club, he’d be worthy of a new deal. Fans would give anything to see him come back into the side this season, even if it’s for a five-minute cameo at the end of the campaign.

However, it’s hard to expect it, unfortunately.
