FRICO – Rashaan Evans of the Dallas Cowboys, a linebacker, could not have come at a worse time.

Due to their aim to strengthen their offensive line, the Cowboys were about to make a roster decision on Tuesday. Evans, a “off-the-couch” signing who was previously selected in the first round of the 2018 NFL Draft, was arrested in Frisco on suspicion of possessing marijuana.

The Cowboys have not said clearly that the arrest made their choice easier to understand. However, the team let Evans go on Wednesday morning.

After Leighton Vander Esch suffered a season-ending neck injury, the Cowboys signed Evans to the practice squad in October. Evans played in nine games this season, registering nine tackles as a helper to a team that now mostly relies on rookies Damone Clark and Markquese Bell.

Evans only participated in special teams play during last week’s loss at Miami, despite the fact that the team still lacks depth at linebacker.
