CeeDee Lamb Responds to Cowboys Owner Jerry Jones’ Contract Dismissal
The Dallas Cowboys and CeeDee Lamb saga took an unfortunate turn when the star wide receiver was placed on the Reserve/Did Not Report list on Tuesday. Though the move was said to be transactional to allow injuries to be dealt with on the 90-man training camp roster, things have taken another dramatic turn.
Longtime Cowboys beat writer Jon Machota threw out a post on X and used a quote from Cowboys Owner Jerry Jones responding to the current contract issues with Lamb.

“Cowboys owner Jerry Jones on contract talks with CeeDee Lamb: ‘I don’t have any urgency to get it done.'”
The quote is typical of the usual stubborn responses Jones has given out in recent months about the contract issues for Lamb and quarterback Dak Prescott. Now, it appears Lamb has caught wind of the quote and responded in the kind of way that proves just how unhappy he is.
It appears that Jones and Lamb (and his representation) might not be close to working out a deal at all.

Jones has been adamant in taking the “wait and see” approach regarding contracts for both Lamb and Prescott. The issue with this approach is that it can be seen as disrespectful to his players.

The truth is that Lamb might be laughing at the comment considering that he, his representation, and Jones have come close to a new contract. Or the more likelier situation is that he is laughing at the fact that Jones remains bullheaded in his approach to getting a contract done.
The latter is probably true, which could mean that both parties are far off from coming to an agreement. Losing Lamb for the season will cause a significant damper to the plans the Cowboys had for the 2024 season.
Lamb has been holding out of training camp as he awaits a new contract, and Jones’ comments only signify that things behind the scenes might be far messier than initially believed.
Reports indicated that both Prescott and Lamb received contract offers from the Cowboys’ front office, and it appears those contracts were not what the star players were seeking.
With the comments made by Jones, the situation regarding Lamb might now be heading to a place where he could hold out to open the season. That is the worst case scenario but Jones appears not ready to budge at this point.
