As Unai Emery wants to bolster his attacking options, Aston Villa may make a move for Leicester City forward Kelechi Iheanacho during the January transfer window.
To increase competition and strengthen their campaign for Champions League qualifying, the Villans hope to bring in a forward in the winter.
Villa are having a superb season and sit third in the Premier League table on 39 points from 18 games, having missed the chance to go top after a 1-1 home draw with Sheffield United on Friday.
With 13 points from six games, Unai Emery’s team won Group E and advanced to the UEFA Europa Conference League knockout rounds, ahead of Legia Warsaw, AZ Alkmaar, and HŠK Zrinjski Mostar.
Villa hopes that a £5 million to £10 million price tag may persuade Leicester to allow Iheanacho to depart in January, according to Football Insider.
Iheanacho’s King Power Stadium lease expires at the conclusion of the 2023–2024 campaign, and FI stated that negotiations for a new contract have “failed to progress.”
Ollie Watkins is Villa’s main striker and has been outstanding this season, scoring 14 goals and providing eight assists in 25 appearances in all competitions. The 27-year-old England international hit doubles figures in the Premier League in each of the previous three seasons since joining from Brentford and already has nine in 18 games this campaign.
Moussa Diaby has also featured as a forward for Villa since joining from Bayer Leverkusen in the summer, but primarily operates as a right-winger or behind the striker.
Another center forward in Villa’s lineup is Jhon Duran, a 20-year-old Colombian who has not played much under Unai Emery.
