Quarterback Kenny Pickett of the Pittsburgh Steelers is recuperating from a minor operation he underwent to treat a sprained ankle. With Mitchell Trubisky at quarterback, the team will have to battle for a postseason berth. But fresh information about a schedule for Pickett’s potential return to the field has surfaced.

Pickett is making a strong case to suit up for the Seattle Seahawks in week 17. Ian Rapoport, an NFL insider, said the following regarding the circumstances.

According to what I gather, he is striving to return to action the following week, which would be extremely quick—less than three weeks following tightrope surgery. Indeed, he could be able to play if he passes the pain and agility tests. However, from what I gather, this is meant to resemble the tightrope operation he underwent in college. Twenty-six days later, he performed. He would then be eligible to play against the Seahawks in Week 17.

The former first-round selection has to meet a few requirements, but Pickett has experienced this before. 26 days after suffering a similar injury in college, he resumed play. He is now expected to play in week 17. Despite his difficulties this season, Pickett remains the team’s best quarterback.

Numerous teams in the AFC have a chance to qualify for the postseason. Right now, every team in the conference between six and eleven could theoretically qualify for the postseason. It all boils down to the Steelers’ ability to score points with their attack. One of the league’s top defensive players, T.J. Watt, has the ability to turn games around. All they need is for their offense to be able to score 20 points or more while maintaining drives.

The Pittsburgh Steelers’ early-season success has given them the upper hand. But if they want to make the postseason, they need to continue winning.
