Steelers has been punished for their controversial.
T.J. Watt, the Pittsburgh Steelers’ star defensive end, was unstoppable in Week 14. He only missed a few plays after taking a knee in the face on the opening play of the game, but his return has sparked a debate over whether the team should be penalized or not.
According to Ian Rapoport of NFL.com, the NFL and NFLPA are looking into the situation after Watt reported symptoms on Friday morning and is currently in the concussion protocol. Rapoport added that this is standard procedure.
If Pittsburgh did attempt to conceal Watt’s symptoms in order to allow him to play, the league likely would have penalized the team. However, that doesn’t appear to be the case here. Pittsburgh head coach Mike Tomlin didn’t seem to know what happened. He told reporters that he “assumed” that Watt was medically cleared for a concussion and didn’t know much more than that. But it was Watt’s appearance that caught some people’s attention. The seventh-year pro returned to the game with a dark visor that he hadn’t worn to the start of the game. It’s unclear why Watt changed his visor, but Tomlin went on to say that he had no knowledge of what happened on Thursday, and that he didn’t even know he had changed his visor.
