Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers will never go out of style. The two of them spent 18 seasons together, winning one championship, countless division championships, and countless memories. Most Packers fans were brokenhearted when Rodgers suffered a season-ending Achilles injury on the first possession of the Packers’ season. While some fans may have wanted to see Rodgers win a Super Bowl somewhere else, you never want an injury to end a season.

Throughout the season, analysts and fans alike have wondered if Rodgers will be back this year, next year, or for the rest of his career. Rodgers was very emphatic that he will be back this season, but that doesn’t seem to be the case anymore.

Today, Rodgers released a statement regarding the future of the New York Jets.

Aaron Rodgers, former Green Bay Packers quarterback, makes a statement about his future with the New York Jets

“It won’t be the last time I’ll be seen in a Jet jersey,” Rodgers said. “The night is always dark before the dawn, and we will rise again.”

According to The 33rd Team’s Ari Meirov, Rodgers “wants to go back to the Jets and chase a championship.”

On Monday, ESPN’s Rich Cimini reported that “Aaron wants to play” and that “Robert Saleh wants to play.”

Cimini added that Rodgers needs to be activated off injured reserve by Wednesday if he’s going to play this season.

According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport on Saturday, Rodgers will need to be activated off IR if he wants to play this season and “the teams’ performance against the Dolphins probably played a big role in that.”

After being granted permission to practice on November 29, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported on Saturday that Rodgers is expected to return to practice “this week.” If Rodgers returns too soon with the Jets out of the playoff race, his long-term health could be in jeopardy.

The New York Jets (6-6) and Green Bay Packers (6-7) are tied for third place in their divisions. Next week, the NFC North hosts the AFC East team. If the season comes to an end with both teams tied for last place in their divisions, Rodgers will be back in Green Bay in 2024. This could be one of the most “must-see” games of the season. Let’s see if that’s the case with three games remaining.
