On Monday afternoon, 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan gave some updates on injuries, and he primarily received positive news on their main players.
Due to knee tendinitis, Oren Burks, who saw just six snaps of action against Seattle in Week 14, will be sidelined for a few weeks. In Burks’ absence, Demetrius Flannigan-Fowles played ten snaps at linebacker.
The 49ers use two linebackers in the majority of their packages, so with Burks down, Dre Greenlaw’s health will be crucial going forward. Greenlaw’s hip and ankle injuries are keeping him sidelined this week. The fact that Greenlaw is back in the game suggests that he will be available this week.
With a groin injury, Charvarius Ward may also be able to play next Sunday. Against the Seahawks, Ward only saw four plays on the field. With the 49ers’ crucial playoff game against the Ravens coming up, we’ll see if they rest Hargrave and Ward this week.
