Friday night was not a particularly productive one for the Indiana Pacers. In addition to losing 137-123 to the awful Washington Wizards, who handed them only their fourth victory in 24 games, they may also be without top point guard Tyrese Haliburton for some time.
With two minutes remaining in the third quarter, Haliburton was forced to leave the game due to a blow to his knee and was obviously hurting. The Pacers star did not come back, but with the game already well in hand and the blowout already underway, Indiana might have just erred on the side of caution with their franchise star.
Tyrese Haliburton, the starting point guard for the Pacers, acknowledged that he might miss tomorrow night’s second game of a back-to-back against the Minnesota Timberwolves, but he doesn’t believe the injury will keep him out for an extended amount of time.
“I’m just a little banged up, but I’m fine.” A little area of dampness was visible on the floor. According to Dustin Dopirak of the Indianapolis Star, Haliburton stated, “I landed on my hip, that’s fine, but me and Bilal went knee to knee, so just a little sore right now.” Injury news: Pacers: Tyrese Haliburton might not be able to play this season due to a knee injury.
Fans could reasonably assume that Tyrese Haliburton won’t play in the Pacers’ game against the Timberwolves tomorrow due to the short turnaround between games. That would also be unfortunate for fans who are not biased, since a matchup between the Timberwolves and Pacers at full vigor would mean a titanic matchup between the top defense and offense in the league.
Only two of the Pacers’ games this season have Haliburton missed: the first was on November 1 in a 51-point defeat to the Boston Celtics because of an ankle knock, and the second was on December 2 in a 15-point victory over the Miami Heat because of sickness.
Tyrese Haliburton’s absence from the Pacers’ game tomorrow night will leave them severely shorthanded at the point. Due to a knee ailment, Andrew Nembhard is also sidelined right now, thus TJ McConnell—who is attracting trade interest—might play as much as possible against the Timberwolves.
