Since graduating from the University of Illinois at the end of his six-year career, Tommy DeVito has accomplished many important things in his life. He signed with an NFL team, made the final 53-man roster, started a single game, and is now the starting quarterback for the New York Giants. For a 25-year-old, he has accomplished a lot, but one thing he has yet to accomplish on a full-time basis is leaving his childhood home. Yes, DeVito still lives with his parents in Cedar Grove, New Jersey, although he has expressed no desire to leave.

Why Does Tommy DeVito Live at Home?

Here’s what DeVito has to say about his home-away-from-home living situation in his rookie season:

“I have everything I need right here at home,” he said to ESPN. “I made the decision to stay with my parents during my rookie season because it was the best decision for me. This level of football can be very stressful for a first-year player, especially for a quarterback. There’s so much going on, so many meetings. Outside of football, everything else is taken care of by my family.

It’s a great situation for him, and it’s made even better by the fact that he only has to drive 12 minutes each way to and from the Giants’ practice facility each day. “I don’t think I could have found a place closer than this one,” said DeVito. “It’s crazy that he lives about 15 minutes away, so he’s really close.”

Some of his teammates are envious of his situation, and offensive tackle Justin Pugh called it a “genius” decision. “That’s the best thing, you know what?” Pugh added. “He’s saving his money. That’s the only thing I can think of from a financial point of view. Having your mom help with your laundry, getting you up in the morning, no distractions – it’s incredible.”

Jalin Hyatt, another rookie, said he’s enjoyed going to DeVito’s place. “I’ve been there, and it’s great.”

What is Tommy DeVito’s salary and contract?

According to Pugh, “he’s saving money by living at home, which is important for an undrafted rookie.”

The two-year deal he signed with the Giants (2023-2024) is worth just over $750,00 a year. He signed a 3-year deal with the team (2020-22) that was called off when he was waived and signed to the practice squad.

In 2024, he’ll make just over $915K, bringing the overall value of his deal to slightly more than $1.7M.

After that season, he’s a “exclusive rights” free agent, meaning he’ll have to sign a contract to stay with the Giants (unless they don’t tender him one).

All in all, while he’s making a good salary, his contract isn’t one of the most lucrative in the NFL, so he’ll need to put that away for future success.

What about Tommy’s family?

Here’s what we know about his parents and siblings, as long as

Tom DeVito’s father is a plumber and heating contractor named Tom. He has expressed great confidence in his son’s quarterback abilities. “Tom was born to play this game,” he said to the New York Post. “It doesn’t surprise me, and I don’t mean to brag, but Tommy has been training for this since he was 5.”

DeVito’s mother, Alexandra, hasn’t spoken to the media as much as her son, but she has documented her son’s journey on Instagram. She has posted plenty of photos of him since he started, but also has a lot of family photos and tributes.

The Giants quarterback has credited his father with instilling confidence in him. “People think he’s an undrafted player,” Daboll said, “and that’s because he’s a gem in the rough.”

DeVito’s brother Max is a MCA Broker in New York for the Tribeca Group. Max has a master’s degree in business administration from Salve Regina university. He also has a degree in finance with a business administration minor.

Max’s home office is in Fort Lee, New Jersey, about 19 miles outside of Cedar Grove. It’s unclear if he works remotely like his brother or if he has an apartment.
