NFL Report Reveals Info On Steelers Future.

Kenny Pickett has had a rough start to his first two seasons as Pittsburgh’s starting quarterback, and now he’s out for the season after undergoing surgery for a high ankle sprain. With Pickett likely to be out for the rest of the year, or at least three or four weeks, some have wondered if the team will make a move on Pickett this off-season.

It looks like that’s not going to happen. According to ESPN’s Brooke Pryor, the Steelers haven’t said anything to indicate that they plan to trade Pickett.

Of course, that doesn’t mean the Steelers will pass on Pickett this spring. Pittsburgh took him with the 20th pick in the 2022 NFL Draft and the early returns haven’t been great. He started 13 games and completed 2,404 passes for 7 touchdowns and 9 picks in his rookie season, throwing 63 percent of the time and completing 76.7 percent of his passes. In 12 games this year, he’s completed 2,070 passes for 6 touchdowns and 4 picks, completing 62 percent of those throws and completing 81.4 percent of his throws. Pickett has improved in limiting his turnovers, but he’s regressed in nearly every other area of the game.

The offense hasn’t done much to help matters, ranking 26th in yardage and just 28th in scoring in the NFL. Pittsburgh certainly isn’t at fault for its offensive woes, but there’s no denying Pickett has made things a lot harder for the club.

Kenny Pickett has two years left on his rookie contract, so the Steelers might want to keep him around for at least another year before making any big changes.

The Steelers are 7-6 heading into Saturday, December 18th’s game against the Indianapolis Colts.
