Giants has ruled and Cut their two superstars from the practice squad.
Matt Barkley has been waived by the New York Giants and Jacob Eason has been released from the practice squad.
The 32-year-old Barkley was a fourth-round draft pick by the Philadelphia Eagles in 2013. He was with the Eagles for two seasons before being traded to the Arizona Cardinals in exchange for seventh-round draft pick at the beginning of 2015.
After one season with the Cardinals, Barkley spent two seasons with the Chicago Bears and one with the 40ers. In 2016, he signed with the Cincinnati Bengals on a one-year, two-million dollar contract. However, he was placed on injured reserve at the end of the 2015 training camp and later waived with the injury settlement.
The Bills signed him to a one-year contract after Derek Anderson’s injury. He was re-signed by the Bills in 2018 for a second two-year deal. He was on the Titans’ practice squad during the 2018 pre-season and had a brief stop in Carolina before finishing the year with Atlanta.
Barkley signed with the Bills again last March and was on their practice squad for the 2022 season before being cut by the team in the final cuts. Earlier this month, he was a workout for the Giants.
Through two seasons, Barkley has played in 19 games, starting 19 of them, and has completed 212 of 363 passes for 2,719 yards, with 11 touchdowns and 22 picks.
The Bills signed him to a two-year contract just weeks after Derek Anderson’s injury. He signed a new two-year deal with the Bills in 2018.
The Titans placed him on their practice squad during the 2018 pre-season. He then spent a short time with the Carolina Panthers before finishing the year with the Atlanta Falcons.
Barkley returned to the Bills in March of 2022. He was on the practice squad for the 2022 season and re-signed on a futures deal for 2023 before being among the final roster cuts.
He worked out for the New York Giants last month.
In his NFL career, Barkley has played in 19 games, starting 19 of them, and has completed 212 of 363 passes for 2,709 yards, with 11 touchdowns and 22 interceptions.
