Lions Lose Key Defensive Player.

Detroit Lions Injury Report Week 14 Wednesday
The Detroit Lions released their Week 14 injury report Wednesday.

After Alim McNeill’s season-ending injury, the Detroit Lions needed to shore up their defensive interior depth. One of those additions was 13-year NFL vet Tyson Alualu, who spent 2022 with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Alualu’s challenge will be to get into shape as he joins the Lions.

This is the second time the Lions have brought in a veteran, as they did earlier this season with Bruce Irvin. After being on the practice squad for two weeks, Irvin was promoted to the active roster for the Lions’ Week 1 game against New Orleans.

Irvin was held out of Wednesday’s practice and, like Irvin before him, Alualu will be eased into action.

Campbell said Alualu had a medical checkup yesterday. “He’s been in good shape, he looks good, so we just wanted to check him out,” Campbell said. “He passed the medical, so it’s all good. We’ll get him back in shape, we’ll get him back into football shape, just like Bruce. To be honest, he’ll bring the energy, he’ll bring stability.

You know exactly what you’re going to get, and that’s what gives us peace of mind. He has a little bit of flexibility, and again, he’s an add-on. Once we get him to a point where we think he’s in the game or he’s ready to play, then we’ll decide. Let’s see what he can do for us.

Irvin said after practice that he suffered a “minor ankle injury” against the Saints and should be back on Thursday.

The Lions’ Week 14 injury report includes Frank Ragnow’s knee/back/toe (NP), Malcolm Rodriguez’s ankle (LP), Alex Anzalone’s hand (LP), and Hendon Hooker’s knee (LP).
