Vols checkerboard end zones to make Nissan Stadium debut.

The 2023 season for the Tennessee Volunteers will begin on Saturday, September 1, when the Vols host the Virginia Cavaliers at Nissan Stadium in Nashville, Tennessee. This marks the third time the Vols will host a regular season game at Nissan Stadium, following a 2015 game against Bowling Green and a 2002 game against Wyoming.

The Vols have also made three appearances in the Music City Bowl in Nashville, playing against North Carolina in 2010, Nebraska in 2016, and Purdue in 2021. Tennessee is 3-2 all-time in Music City Bowl games.

In the five previous Tennessee home games at Nissan Stadium, the end zones on the field have been un-checkerboard. However, that will not be the case this Saturday.
