A Leeds United player is taking advantage of the “growing trust and bond” after turning down a summer transfer.

Summerville has been one of Leeds United’s stars of the season so far

Summerville has been in great form this season, scoring six goals and providing four assists, and he’s been nominated for October’s Championship Player of the Month award. Daniel Farke says it was understandable for talented young players like Summerville to be thinking about leaving Elland Road in the summer, but luckily for him, he stuck around and has been doing really well this season. He’s been a key part of helping the Whites get back on track after a difficult start to the season.

Although Farke is delighted with the progress he’s seen in Summerville so far this season, he also thinks the winger is benefitting from his new environment, with Thorp Arch’s team spirit and enthusiasm bringing the best out of most of the players.

“I don’t want to say too much about individual players, but I think there were a lot of players who were thinking about leaving when I first arrived at the club,” Farke said, “and I can’t blame them because it’s only natural after three years of being in the Premier League and a lot of the players playing in the Premier League.

People were interested in them and some of the exit clauses. It’s normal for young players to be thinking about what’s the best move for their career. Let’s be honest and admit it, we’ve had our ups and downs in the last few years, and it’s normal to think a lot about what comes next since a player’s career is so short.

I can’t really fault anyone for that, but I also get the feeling that as we work together more and more, something new is emerging – something that you want to see grow and evolve, the way we play, our values, and our beliefs. You could almost feel the trust and connection growing between us more and more every day. It was a bit tricky at the end, to be honest, but it’s still growing day by day.

I’m really confident that the way we want to play, the ideas we have, and the long-term plans for this amazing football club will help us attract the right type of players. We can also give them back the trust and confidence they need to get back on track. I’m really proud of the team for the amazing spirit and togetherness they’ve shown so far. We need to make sure this doesn’t just last a few weeks or three months. We’re still growing and on the right track.
