Jimmy Butler headlines yet another media day, blasting social media with his “emo” look. Butler kept his interviews short and sweet, keeping the message simple; he’s going stay true to himself and nearly guarantees the Miami Heat will win the NBA championship this upcoming season.
“This is my emotional state,” Butler said. “I’m one with my emotions, so this is what you get.”
“It’s a new season, I’m excited for it, you know, I’ll see y’all in the Finals in June… Somehow, someway, we’re gonna end up in the Finals, we’re gonna win it, and then y’all going to say we got lucky.”
Butler seems confident in the Heat’s roster and their ability to compete with the rest of the East, despite additions from contending teams.
He didn’t give any attention to preseason rankings, or odds for the Heat against “stacked” rosters. The Milwaukee Bucks and Boston Celtics added their fair share of star talent, but the Heat decided a haul of role players would better suit the team.
Miami’s been to the Finals two of the past four seasons with a roster very similar to what they’re set to court in 2023.
The East may be a top-heavy conference at the moment but with Butler in South Miami, they’ll always have a fighter’s chance. Butler presented NBA fans with another magical Playoff performance last season, but the Heat still have work to get over the hump.
The same core with Butler leading the way has been to the final showcase. An Eastern Conference Finals championship would be sufficient for some organizations, yet Butler and company aren’t in search of just participating.
“We straight, like I always say I know what I’m capable of, I know what my guys are capable of, so we’ll continue to play basketball as a unit, as a team.”
