Having Brock Purdy on a cheap rookie deal gives the 49ers flexibility in cap management, but one of their top position players, Brandon Aiyuk, is ready to get paid.
And it doesn’t seem like San Francisco wants to give in to his lofty expectations.
That has led to Aiyuk’s name being mentioned in trade rumors. A report came out on Monday that the Niners wanted the 17th overall pick and Zay Jones to send Aiyuk to the Jacksonville Jaguars. Apparently, that was too much.

The Pittsburgh Steelers have also been rumored to have “looked into” trading for Aiyuk. They just traded away top receiver Diontae Johnson and want a consistent No. 1 receiver they can rely on.
While these rumors continue to fly, Aiyuk took the time to address some memes going around that he looks like Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin. He mentioned Tomlin directly on X.
The resemblance is actually uncanny when you see two pictures of Aiyuk and Tomlin side-by-side.
Steelers fans took the opportunity to use Aiyuk’s tweet as evidence that he will be a Steeler in no time.
Whether that’s through a trade now or next offseason, Aiyuk has definitely piqued everyone’s interest with his post.
