Two members of Kirby Smart’s coaching staff resigned on Wednesday. Scott Cochran, who has been a special teams coach in Athens since 2020, and Darrell Dickey an offensive assistant for one season, both parted ways with the team to pursue other opportunities.
In a statement, Kirby Smart said, “I want to thank Scott and Darrell for their contributions to Georgia football. We wish them the best moving forward.”
Smart has named Kirk Benedict as Cochran’s replacement, elevating Benedict from special teams analyst to coordinator. Cochran began his tenure in Athens as the team’s special teams coordinator with an on-field coaching role, but in August of 2021 was replaced in that role by Will Muschamp.
However, for the past two seasons, Cochran has served in an on-field capacity as the team’s coordinator.
Georgia junior Dallis Goodnight kept the Bulldogs undefeated with a walk-off single up the middle that drove in freshman Hannah Davila.
