According to Jake Fischer of Yahoo Sports, only the Los Angeles and Utah Jazz have made genuine trade offers for Atlanta Hawks guard Dejounte Murray before Thursday’s trade deadline.
Fischer stated on the podcast hosted by Marc Stein of The Stein Line, “The only teams I’ve really heard actual offers about have been from the Lakers and from Utah, and the Lakers just don’t have a clear, obvious package that’s going to give the Hawks the picks they want, a player they want, and a player who doesn’t have what’s considered to be bad long-term salary.”
The Lakers have been linked to Murray for some time, with one report claiming they offered guard D’Angelo Russell, forward Jalen Hood-Schifino and draft picks to Atlanta. But talks cooled after that, Stein reported.
Such a trade could only be completed if Atlanta could find a third team to take Russell. Rumors suggested that the Brooklyn Nets could get involved. But again, at this point, it appears to be little more than speculation.
As for the Jazz, nothing has been reported about what they may offer for Murray. Utah is believed to be looking to move forward Kelly Olynyk and guard Jordan Clarkson.
Will Murray be traded? One opposing executive told Hoops Wire he doesn’t think so. “I don’t think (coach Quin Snyder) wants to let him go this season,” the exec said. “They have other players they could trade to get some help.”
Hawks center Clint Capela suffered a strained adductor and will be re-evaluated in seven to 10 days, the team announced in a press release. Capela has been among the many Hawks mentioned as a potential trade candidate ahead of Thursday’s deadline.
