With two more interviews added to their extensive list, the Pittsburgh Steelers are actively seeking an offensive coordinator. More interviews are anticipated. Arthur Smith, the former head coach of the Atlanta Falcons, is another name to watch. Ever since Smith left the Falcons, his name has been in the public eye. As many as seven teams are reportedly interested in the veteran Tennessee Titans coach, who has swiftly become one of the most sought-after offensive coordinator possibilities available.
As the Steelers bring in more names for their candidacy, don’t be surprised if Smith’s comes up. The former OC for the Titans had plenty of success with Derrick Henry, and a running game as strong as his with Tennessee may be exactly what Pittsburgh is looking for. The 41-year-old also has connections with the Steelers. During his time in Tennessee, he worked with former Pittsburgh offensive line coach Mike Munchak, defensive coordinator Dick LeBeau and head coaches Mike Mularkey and Ken Whisenhunt. All of whom are well respected names within the Steelers organization.
The Steelers will head to Mobile, Alabama to scout the Senior Bowl, and are expected to continue searching for offensive coordinators while down there. Whether it’s before, during or after, Smith could be a name that appears on Pittsburgh’s radar.
