The Chicago Bears, who own two top-10 picks in the 2024 NFL Draft, have a great opportunity to begin their rebuilding process.
With a 7-10 record, the Chicago Bears may have had a disappointing season as they failed to make the playoffs for the third consecutive year in 2023. However, now that the Bears have the top overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, things are definitely looking up. Many thanks, Panthers!
The Carolina Panthers ended the season with the worst record in the league; they owed the Bears their first-round pick as a result of the transaction that sent them Bryce Young. Chicago will thus receive the coveted first overall pick for the first time since 1947.
In addition to having first dibs, the Bears will also be selected ninth overall in the tiebreaker between the Falcons, Jets, and Vikings, the other seven-to-ten clubs, which was decided by strength of schedule.
Six picks in total are available to the Bears in the draft. Although that might not seem like enough, there’s a good chance general manager Ryan Poles will find a method to increase the amount in his hoard.
In order to acquire defensive end Montez Sweat, who was among the team’s greatest defenders during the second part of the season, Chicago surrendered their second-round pick to the Washington Commanders in mid-season.
In the first round of the 2023 NFL Draft, they were able to trade down from number nine to number ten, which allowed them to acquire an additional fourth-round pick from the Philadelphia Eagles.
The Bears sent guard Dan Feeney to the Dolphins in August in return for their sixth-round selection, and they sent wide N’Keal Harry to the Patriots in exchange for their seventh-round selection in 2022.
