Jonjo Shelvey, a midfielder for Nottingham Forest, will soon begin a season-long loan at Rizespor. After having a conflict with Steve Cooper, the Reds have been attempting to offload the player all summer.

Prior to the deadline on Friday, the 31-year-old is now prepared to relocate to Turkey, according to John Percy of The Telegraph. Only eight appearances have been made by the player for the Reds since his January signing.

All summer, Forest has been hoping to get rid of Shelvey. He did not participate in the Reds’ preseason workouts, and he spent the offseason competing for the B-Team in friendlies.

Forest has now selected its team for the upcoming season. Forest now have a 30-man realistic squad after the names of five players who qualify as under-21 stars were announced.

Shelvey has proven to be a terrible acquisition for Forest. Prior to a 3-2 loss at Anfield in April of last year, he split up with Cooper after Shelvey took offense at just being listed on the replacements’ bench.

The athlete will now attempt to revitalize his career and return to playing regular football. What the player’s future holds is still up in the air, but this was a brilliant move by Forest’s administrative staff.

Shelvey is about to depart for Turkey.
Shelvey makes over £70,000 per week at Forest, but it seemed like they were stuck with him. However, it appears that the player has a way out as of late.

In the summer, Forest brought in a ton of new players. It was not surprising to see Shelvey left off of the 25-man roster when it was announced that there had been a total of 13 new additions.

The Reds must take something away from this trade. From the beginning, it didn’t seem like it would be a beneficial one, so perhaps this deal may be completed before the deadline on Friday.
