Dejounte Murray and Zach LaVine have been the Lakers’ most talked-about possible trade targets thus far. It is believed that front office staffers have been manning the phones in an effort to enhance the squad before the trade deadline.
However, an NBA insider is now advising the team to take a totally different approach.
However, there isn’t a store with thirty males available if I’m Rob Pelinka. However, Tim MacMahon of ESPN stated on Brian Windhorst & The Hoop Collective this week that it’s not just LaVine or Dejounte Murray.
“I’m calling Charlotte to ask about Terry Rozier, or at the very least to see if he could be available for a much cheaper price. Because in my opinion, that individual would provide you with a lot of what you need at a lower rate. Even if he is averaging 23 points per game, it’s not the major splash. Simply put, because the Hornets are so [poor], nobody is aware of that.
Rozier is definitely not getting enough attention in Charlotte, as McMahon correctly points out. That’s even though he recorded career-high averages of 24 points and 6.8 assists per game.
Rozier would undoubtedly provide the Lakers some much-needed shooting. Despite trying 7.8 threes per game, his 37 percent three-point shooting this season is higher than that of all but three Lakers players.
In the fourth quarter, Rozier is scoring 8.5 points a game on average, which is second highest in the NBA only behind Giannis Antetokounmpo.
The guard for the Hornets is two years into a four-year, $96 million deal. With a season-long salary of $23.2 million, he is more costly than Murray (18.2 million) but less expensive than LaVine (40.1 million).
As the February trade deadline draws near, trade rumors involving the Lakers are circulating widely, and head coach Darvin Ham has responded to them directly.
Following Monday night’s crucial 112-105 victory over the Thunder, Ham acknowledged that the front staff would probably consider strengthening the roster.
Reporters are informed by Ham that “people talk about trades and this and that.”Nobody is trying to hide anything. You are going to seize the chance that is presented to you to improve. Having said that, we simply need to buckle down, concentrate, and attend to the minutiae with what we have in that locker room. In that locker room, we have more than enough to get some things done.
Due to their struggles with illness, injuries, and assembling a reliable starting lineup for the whole season, LA is just 10th in the West with a 20–21 record.
Following the victory over OKC, Davis informed reporters, “We haven’t been completely healthy.” We have played a lot of games this year, after all. However, we’ve been dealing with a lot of injuries, which is never easy. We played excellent basketball when we were perfectly healthy. We therefore know our potential. However, I believe we simply need to become completely healthy.
The Lakers have been closely associated with several high-profile players and transactions, including those involving Zach LaVine, Clint Capela, and Dejounte Murray, as well as trade agreements with the Trail Blazers and Grizzlies.
However, ESPN’s Brian Windhorst speculates that these kinds of deals might simply be pipe dreams.
“It appears that no teams are willing to contact the Lakers regarding the players they wish to trade,” he stated.
The Lakers don’t have players with high value at the moment, unlike the Raptors, who have had that luxury for the past few months. They will have to wait out this homestand before deciding whether to make a move. I’m not even sure whether it can be compared.
Additionally, he believes that the Lakers have a “zero percent chance” of trading for LaVine.
