Now that the college football season is over, many Ohio State supporters would want to forget it, or at the very least, hope there are some lessons to be learned. The coaching staff of the Buckeyes is still hard at work even though the season is ended.
Several Ohio State players have decided to return for another season rather than take a chance to enter the NFL Draft since the beginning of the year. The Buckeyes should field one of the top rosters in college football because to the combination of their incoming recruiting class, which is ranked among the top 5 nationally.
Ohio State’s recruiting class for 2024 is all but over as of the Early Signing Period’s conclusion. Nonetheless, a significant number of candidates have chosen to de-commit and reopen their recruitment in light of the several coaching changes that occurred last week.
Ohio State’s recruiting season never ends, and on Monday the Buckeyes made headlines once more in the recruiting department.
Top-ranked Ohio State for 2025 CB
In addition to preparing the team for the upcoming season, Ohio State’s coaching staff is actively seeking for candidates for the 2025 class. The Buckeyes hope to add to their current six verbal commitments in the class as soon as feasible.
Mark Zackery, a four-star cornerback from Indianapolis, IN (Ben Davis), may have taken a step closer to committing to the Buckeyes on Monday when he ranked Ohio State among his top 10 colleges.
In addition to Ohio State, Zackery’s list of the best universities also included Tennessee, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Notre Dame, Oregon, Purdue, Penn State, and USC.
Zackery has been a longtime recruit for Ohio State, which made an official offer to him last summer. Also, he had several opportunities to see Columbus during the previous campaign. This season, the Buckeyes plan to bring him back on several occasions, including for in-game atmospheres.
Because of their close proximity and his rapport with the coaching staff, Ohio State is in an excellent position to pursue Zackery. They are not alone, though, as Notre Dame is also said to be one of the top candidates to sign him; they have acquired some momentum recently in their recruitment efforts.
The Irish have the only 247Sports Crystal Ball prediction for Zackery, and Steve Wiltfong, Director of Football Recruiting at 247Sports, made it only last week. Though there is still plenty of time to pursue him, the Buckeyes will want to surpass the Irish in the standings before he makes a commitment.
In the 2025 class, the Buckeyes have already secured two pledges at cornerback: high four-star Blake Woodby and five-star Devin Sanchez. Zackery would be a great addition to go with these two.
According to the 247Sports Composite Rankings, Zackery is ranked No. 167 overall and No. 23 among CBs. Also, he is Indiana’s No. 2 recruit.
