Injury rumor: Grading 2 MCL Sprain Found in T.J. Watt’s Knee Injury

It was earlier reported by Ian Rapoport of NFL Network that the injury was thought to be a ruptured MCL.

Although the top player of the Steelers should be happy with the news, it does mean he will probably miss Pittsburgh’s postseason opener and, if they advance, their divisional round clash.

After colliding with teammate Montravius Adams late in the third quarter, Watt sustained the injury. He went to the medical tent and then entered Pittsburgh’s locker room. He never showed back.

In a message on X, the platform that was once known as Twitter, Watt’s brother and former three-time Defensive Player of the Year J.J. Watt described the injury as “devastating”.

The six-time Pro Bowl pass rusher finished with a team-high eight tackles and two sacks before leaving. His season total now stands at 19.0, the highest in the NFL going into Sunday’s play.

By winning 17–10 in the end, the Steelers increased their prospects of making the playoffs. The Buffalo Bills or Jacksonville Jaguars must now lose for the team to secure a wild card berth. In the event that the Houston Texans and Indianapolis Colts game on Saturday night ends in a draw, they would also qualify for the postseason.

Watt’s health will be constantly watched going forward. The 29-year-old is essential to the defensive line output of the Pittsburgh Steelers. No other player on the roster had more than three quarterback takedowns this season going into Saturday’s game, with the exception of Alex Highsmith, who had seven sacks.
