This combination guard who was previously selected in the first round by the Lakers is being watched.
The NBA trade deadline is in less than a month, and based on all the indications, your Los Angeles Lakers will make a deal to improve the squad. As of this writing, their 19–20 record is unsatisfactory, and it’s clear a trade is imminent.
Although the Lakers have a lot of options, the offensive end of the court will be the focus of this trade deadline. LeBron James and Anthony Davis are not the only offensive weapons Los Angeles needs, and the right move may revitalize the offense.
Though there are many choices, Terry Rozier, a guard for the Charlotte Hornets, is an underappreciated target for the purple and gold. Should they decide against landing one of their All-Star targets, the Lakers are reportedly keeping an eye on Rozier among other players, according to Jovan Buha of The Athletic.
“The Lakers have several needs, but the buzz around the organization is that offense — particularly 3-point shooting and downhill athleticism — are the areas they hope to address within the next month,” writes Buha. “That could come in the form of a splashy trade for Zach LaVine or Dejounte Murray, or a smaller move for a role player like Dorian Finney-Smith, Royce O’Neale or Terry Rozier.”
Compared to Zach LaVine or Dejounte Murray, Rozier may not require as many assets to acquire because he is a skilled bucket-getter.
The combo guard is 29 years old and is a former first-round choice of the Boston Celtics with the 16th overall pick. With 3.8 rebounds, seven assists, and 24.3 points per game on 46.3% shooting, Scary Terry is having a great season. Although it comes from the isolated Hornets squad, Rozier is undoubtedly capable of making buckets on par with the greatest in the NBA.
Of course, given the proper price, I wouldn’t mind trading for Rozier. He would suit LA’s needs because he is accustomed to performing at important events.
