We are pleased to welcome Dr. Rajpal Brar, an expert on injuries, as a new exclusive columnist. He will provide his opinions on the Aston Villa injury situation every week.
Dr Rajpal Brar says Youri Tielemans, an Aston Villa player, looks to have a more significant ailment than just a failed late fitness test.
The Belgium international was questionable for the match against Brentford on December 17 but was ruled out of the match against Sheffield United on December 22, with Unai Emery subsequently stating he would be out for two weeks.
According to the injury expert, this could indicate that he did not recuperate or train effectively and would be out till the new year.
Dr. Brar, a sports scientist and physical therapist, discussed this scenario with Villa News.
“Probably a failed fitness test prior to last weekend’s game.”
In general, this indicates that he either experienced more discomfort or soreness than the medical staff deemed tolerable throughout training or rehabilitation.
“It was worse than expected because after the midweek, Emery ruled him out for two weeks.”
Tielemans, whose contract at Leicester City expired during the summer, joined Emery’s team on a free transfer and is now a Villa Park player.
After the Foxes were demoted from the Premier League, the 26-year-old made the decision not to remain at the King Power Stadium.
He has made 16 league appearances this season, although Emery has only started four of them because he likes to use him late in games.
