SAD NEWS: Emi Martinez, the star of Aston Villa, may retire due to a back ailment.

We are pleased to welcome Dr. Rajpal Brar, an expert on injuries, as a new exclusive columnist. He will provide his opinions on the Aston Villa injury situation every week.

In response to remarks made by Aston Villa goalkeeper Emi Martinez, Dr. Rajpal Brar said that receiving frequent injections to relieve pain could have long-term effects.

The Argentina international admitted to having an injury during the World Cup in an interview with ESPN.

He even talks about an anaesthetic needle being put into him in order to numb their pain as it became too much to tolerate.

Dr. Brar, a sports scientist and physical therapist, discussed his circumstances with Villa News.

“Elite players must be able to manage their pain, particularly in high-profile matches and competitions.

It’s difficult to predict whether there will be long-term effects because it depends on the injection type, the location, the number of doses administered, etc., but it’s always possible.

Martinez was among the standout performers in that Argentina side and his performances at the club level have been remarkable too.

He has been a key player both on and off the field, helping Villa develop into a team that has consistently finished in the top four.

While Unai Emery will be hopeful that the goalie experiences no long-term repercussions, regular treatments like that do carry a little risk.
