Gaints’ key player will miss at least five games due to serious head surgery.
Landon Dickerson, the Eagles’ starting left guard, will be out for at least one more game after undergoing thumb surgery, per a report from ESPN’s Mike Garafolo. “He’s out for the season,” Garafolo said. “They won’t put him on injured reserve. They’re going to give him a minimum of four games.”
The Eagles are 11-point favorites against the Giants, so they’ll be able to win without Dickerson on Sunday. However, the offensive line is never great without a starter, and the Eagles could be without both guards on Christmas Eve.
Cam Jurgens was a game-time decision in Week 15 because of a chest injury. It is unclear if he will play against the Giants.
Opeta started in Jurgens’ place against Seattle. When Dickerson was forced to miss one snap because of an equipment malfunction (his face mask came off his helmet), rookie Tyler Steen replaced him at left guard. So, assuming Jurgens is cleared to play, Opeta could slide over to left guard while Steen is on the bench.
The projected starting lineup for the offensive line is as follows:
Jordan Mailata at left tackle
Tyler Steen at left guard
Jason Kelce at center
Suga Opeta at right guard
Lane Johnson at right tackle
