Everton head coach fired.
The former Super Eagles forward wants the former Everton, Ajax and Lille players to take the place of Peseiro, saying “the first thing to do is fire the coach.”
Peterside Idah, a former Super Eagles goalkeeper, has urged the Nigerian Football Federation (NFFF) to let go of Josepe Peseiro as the Super Eagles coach, according to a report by Soccernet
Peseiro led the Super Eagles to a 0-0 draw against Lesotho at home in Uyo on Saturday, followed by another unconvincing 1-1 loss to Zimbabwe in Rwanda the following week. The result leaves Nigeria with just two points from its three matches in Group C, trailing only South Africa and Rwanda with two points each.
Despite qualifying for the 2022 FIFA World Cup, Idah is confident that Nigeria will not make it to the Mundial next year, as long as Peseiro is in charge.
The first step is to fire the coach, as he will not lead Nigeria to the World Cup, Idah said in an interview with Vanguard. “If you were at the airport and they told you Bishop Peterside idah was the pilot, you wouldn’t want to get on the plane, no matter how much you love me,” he added. “If we don’t have a coach, we’re in trouble. We can’t afford not to make it to the World Cup next year.”
Idah suggested that a group of several former Nigerian internationals should be appointed to lead the Super Eagles if Peseiro departs. The former Moroka Swallows keeper believes that a combination of Sunday Oliseh from Ajax, Daniel Amokachi from Everton, and Vicente Enyeama from Lille will guarantee Nigeria a place at the World Cup. “We are in a crisis,” he said. “I urge the Minister of Sports Development to do something. His intervention will save us from further embarrassment.”
